"kidStock" Returns to New Smyrna Beach! Winter Park, FL - FishStock 2004 The Total Saltwater Experience, returns to New Smyrna Beach with kidStock, its unique offerings for kids.
kidsStock is free and open to the public at Riverside Park in downtown New Smyrna Beach, Saturday, May 29, 2004, and again on Sunday, May 30, at 12 noon. The Youth Fishing Foundation and Zebco Fishing Tackle are FishStock's official kids' program hosts. kidsStock will offer an environmental presentation featuring a saltwater touch tank and a beginner's fishing course for inquisitive, youthful anglers. Riverside Park, located alongside the Intracoastal Waterway, provides the perfect opportunity for young anglers and their families to hone their new fishing skills immediately.
To add to the excitement at kidStock, Zebco will give 300 Model 33 rod-and-reel combinations out at kidsStock. Other activities at kidStock include a Flippin' and Pitchin competition with hourly prizes awarded. Flippin' and Pitchin' is presented by The New Smyrna Beach chapter of Teen Anglers, Inc. Founded in 1997, the Youth Fishing Foundation, based in Homestead, Florida, is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting free kids' fishing tournaments and fishing conservation education.
It introduces children of all backgrounds and ages to the sport of fishing by providing equipment and hands-on instruction. Teen Anglers, Inc. gives teenagers a chance to participate in a no-fee program that combines the sport of fishing, conservation, and the essential of boating with an emphasis on safety. It is a nationally based, not-for-profit organization facilitated by classroom teachers or coaches at the high school level.
The program combines on-the-water experiences in which competitiveness is not of paramount importance. Teen Anglers helps develop important social skills and career development opportunities within the recreational fishing industry.
